Christmas can be a tough time for those who do not have very much. It is an unfortunate statistic that more people than ever are using food banks and December is one of their busiest months. I feel very fortunate that I don’t need the services of the food bank but it doesn’t take a lot for someone to end up needing them so while I’m in a position to donate, I will. Which brings me on to the Reverse Advent Calendar!
You may have seen my post on social media, but I am lucky enough to be a part of a fab community of UK Money Bloggers and together we have committed to taking part in this campaign. What we’d also love is for our lovely readers to take part too! This Christmas we are putting together a reverse advent calendar. The reverse part being that I will be giving rather than receiving. Each day for the month of November (or 25 days if you so wish) I will be adding an item to a box to donate to my local food bank. In this box will go food and toiletry essentials as well as a couple of nice Christmassy extras for a person in need. This is an overview of what goes into a food bank parcel.
Each local food bank differs in what they urgently need, please do have a look to see what your local one needs. You can find your local food bank here. This is what my local one needs:
Share your items on social media by using the hashtags #foodbankadvent or #reverseadventcalendar. I’d love to see what you put together.
