Happy Monday! I hope you have all had a good day. I like Mondays in the sense that they are like a new beginning.
Each Monday I am going to share the little things that I will do/have done to look after the pennies. After all, look after the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves.
- Read the gas and electricity meters. This means that we won’t get an estimated bill which is usually more than you’d use.
- Meal plan. If you have planned out your meals for the week there won’t be any unplanned spending at the take away or the local shop.
- Cook once and eat twice. A great thing to do when you know you are going to be too tired to cook. We try and cook more than we need so that we can have leftovers in the week and also some to freeze. Instant ready meal!
- Take our own bags to the supermarket. Self explanatory, saving lots of 5ps.
- Ordering our shopping online and collecting it on the way home from work. No extra petrol spared, no charge as it was ‘Click and Collect’ and no buying of added extras! I am not great when I wander round the supermarket, lots of extra things get added to the shopping that were not on the list. By shopping this way, we only buy what is on the list.
So there you have it. My little ways that I am saving the pennies this week.
What little things will you do this week to save money? What are your money-saving tips? I’d love to hear from you.
