I thought I would share 10 ways to celebrate valentines without spending a fortune.
I’m not personally a massive spender on Valentine’s day, preferring to choose to celebrate my love on any day! I do also find that it becomes so commercially hyped-up that my inner petulant child comes out and I want to NOT do something because everywhere things are telling me that I should!!
However, I’m aware a lot of my readers like to show their affection for their loved ones, so here are my 10 ways of saying “I love you” without also declaring your love for overspending !
1 – Cook your favourite dinner. There are always those favourite dinners that might take a little longer than normal, now is a great opportunity to make it.
2 – Book the day off and spend it together, how about going for a long walk? Or if you feel like staying indoors, how about a duvet day?
3 – How about watching that movie you have wanted to watch for ages? Setting aside the 2 or so hours and popping your own pop-corn.
4 – If you have a gym membership why not go for a swim together? Relaxing in the sauna or steam room afterwards.
5 – Going out for dinner on the Sunday before valentines, take advantage of a restaurant voucher. If you are on O2 and check out the Priority app, you can get a main meal at Pizza Express for £5 or check out the offers at your local Zizzi’s here.
6 – Turning off your mobile phones for the evening – perhaps playing a board game.
7 – Making your favourite pudding together? We don’t often make time for desserts during the week so why not make the time this Valentine’s.
8 – Set yourself a challenge! £10 each for a gift and one course for dinner!
9 – Buy fish and chips and enjoy while taking a stroll in your favourite place (this is personally one of my faves).
10 – Make a book of IOU’s and some origami flowers. IOU a massge, a week of washing up. Who knows!
For me, the main this about Valentine’s and indeed any lovely day of the year is spending time together with the ones we love. This also doesn’t have to be a significant other, it can be one of your best friends or a parent. Let’s spread the love!
I’d love to know what you get up to, please get in touch!
These are such wonderful ideas! Thank you for sharing 🙂
